425 Votes From Victory

If we could have changed 425 voters in the 1st Assembly race we would have turned our district blue! We can do it in 2010. We will need to get our candidate's name out in the districts where we need more votes. We can do that by a serious "letter to the editor" campaign, getting our members to post on our blog, using videos by our candidate and party chair, creating a presence on MySpace, Twitter, FaceBook, LinkedIn, etc.

We need to have a more coordinated effort between the democrats of Door, Kewaunee, and Brown counties.

The Democratic Party of Door County needs to keep the momentum going and keep the 2008 volunteers (approximately 275 volunteers) interested and engaged. Dick Skare not have the time to do all this work by himself. He needs us and our help to turn the 1st Assembly District blue.

Election Victory!

The Democratic Party of Door County swept the contested elections in Door County! This may have been a first.

Barack Obama and Joe Biden led the way with 10,142 votes (58.02%) to McCain/Palin 7,112 votes (40.68%) out of a total of 17,481 votes cast.

Steve Kagen won 57.73% of the vote (9,936) over John Gard's 42.19% (7,261).

Dick Skare carried Door County with 8,755 votes (50.83%) to Garey Bies' 8,457 (49.10%).

Congratulations to the candidates on their terrific campaigns and the hundreds of Door County volunteers who spent thousands of hours canvassing, calling, knocking on doors, walking in parades, putting up signs, working in the office, etc. We couldn't have done it without you!

The Democratic Party of Door County now has over 270 members! Our goal is to double that number in the next two years. Let's work hard on getting the volunteers to join and contacting our friends, neighbors, and co-workers and signing them up as members.
