We can't blame the major networks entirely for the negative press about health care. Even though they are giving what I consider too much coverage to a small number of protesters, they are having the medical experts (Dr. Tim Johnson for example) debunk some of the myths about health care. One of the most outrageous myths was started by former NY Lt. Gov. Betsy McCaughy on the Fred Thompson show. She announced the myth of required Medicare counseling sessions on how to end life early. Every responsible medical doctor I have seen interviewed has stated this "death panel" idea that is being circulated by the extremists is absolutely not true. And the crackpots keep complaining about Congress not reading the bill.

Health Care
There is a lot of "noise" about members of Congress not reading the "Affordable Health Choices Act" but it seems to me the people who are not reading the bill are the ones who are making the most noise. (You can read a summary of the bill at Sen. Kennedy's website http://kennedy.senate.gov/newsroom/press_release.cfm?id=d6838b97-c989-48dc-87be-5e11805cd08d ) The bill can be found as a PDF file at http://help.senate.gov/BAI09A84_xml.pdf if you are so inclined to read the entire bill.
Upon reading it you will find most of the noise by the Republican'ts and talking TV heads is not true. It is interesting to note where most of this noise originates. Contrary to what the noisemakers are saying, the protest behind health care reform is not a "grassroots" movement. It is being carefully orchestrated by Dick Armey and Matt Kibbe of "Freedom Works". It is also interesting to see their ties to "Big Pharma" and for profit health companies. They certainly have the right to free speech and give their opinions on health care but given their interest in "transparency" in government the protesters should be transparent in disclosing their ties to Armey, Kibbe, Freedom Works, Big Pharma, etc. You can watch Rachel Maddow's investigative piece on her website http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/vp/32380712#32380712
For all the complaints about the media being controlled by the left, we are not seeing the networks covering this story. Lou Dobbs, where are you? Must be the "birther" and "deather" and immigrant stories are more important to Dobbs and CNN.
